Rob with 24" Dolly VardenHosted by the professional staff of Andros Bay Cottage, we will be fly-fishing for Bonefish with the option to pursue both Tarpon and Permit (fishing conditions permitting) on the western side of the island. The Bonefish here average between three to five pounds and you will have adequate opportunities to target fish in excess of 12-15 pounds! We will be on the water for 8-9 hours of guided fishing per day, for five straight days. Our guides are friendly, extremely knowledgeable and highly skilled at polishing your casting technique and putting you on fish -- lots of them! The lodge is situated on beautiful beachfront property on Salvador Cay; so get ready to experience some spectacular sunrises/sunsets. We will travel via 18’-20' skiffs designed to carry two fishermen plus your guide - they are the perfect way to experience this vast saltwater fishery, as we will periodically stop, disembark, and wade a hot flat. The option to venture out into some blue water for several hours for a shot at Mahi Mahi and other off-shore species on the fly is available at no additional cost. Click here for a map showing where the lodge is located on the island. Bonefish, Tarpon and Permit are Catch and Release only. Mahi Mahi (Dorado) may be kept, but you are encouraged to keep only what you will eat.

We have the entire lodge to ourselves for the whole week! There are four air-conditioned, waterfront cottages - each comfortably sleeping two adults with plenty of storage room for fishing gear and personal items, and offering covered patios with two sitting chairs. Each cottage has its own private full bath with shower. Satellite TV is now available in the Main Lodge.

Food
All your meals are included in this trip, beginning with dinner the day of your arrival, and culminating with a hearty send-off breakfast the morning of departure. Breakfast and dinner are served family style in the spacious dining room of the main lodge -- take my word for it, you'll never leave the table hungry. Conch fritters, Johnny Cake bread and a cold Kalik beer are just some of the local delicacies you’ll be treated to. Joined by your guide, the Main Lodge deck is the perfect setting to recount the day's highlights and formulate tomorrow's plan of attack. Your packed lunch will include a deli-style sandwich with all the fixin's, and an assortment of chips, baked goods, water and soft drinks. Beer and wine are available at the lodge for a nominal price.

Travel
The trip includes pick-up and transfers to/from Andros Town Airport in a comfortable van or taxi. It is approximately a 30-minute drive each way. Plan your arrival flight to get you into Andros Town Airport on Sunday, 26 March. Schedule your departure flight from Andros Town Airport to leave on Saturday, 1 April. Contact us if you would like assistance with air transportation. Click here to review the trip cancellation policy. Travel insurance is highly recommended.

Cost
This 5-day / 6-night trip is priced well below what you would pay if you contacted the lodge directly. In fact, at $2,195 (tax included), it is between $350-$1,500 less expensive than similar packages to other Andros Island lodges! Please note that airfare from your home airport to/from Andros Island, Bahamas is not included in the price of your trip. Additionally, gratuities for your guide are not included in this cost. The staff strongly believes tips are not guaranteed or expected, but rather earned. Contact us for rates for non-fishing guests. Click here for information on the payment schedule.

Fishing Gear
You will need to arrive at the lodge with all of your fishing gear, including spare flies, leaders and tippet. The ability to replace or borrow additional gear and terminal tackle once on the island is very limited. Contact us if you need help selecting gear. We recommend an 8wt saltwater fly rod with large arbor reel for Bonefish. If you plan to pursue the Saltwater Grand Slam, you should bring along an additional 9wt fly rod for Permit, as well as a 10-11wt fly rod for Tarpon. Plan to dress in lightweight, long-sleeve casting shirts and convertible (zip-off) pants – these will provide valuable protection from both the sun and flies. Always have rain gear available. Here are some other items to consider packing: camera, polarized sunglasses, long-brimmed hat, binoculars, sun gloves, travel alarm, and sunscreen/chapstick. Note: there is plenty of dry storage available on the skiffs.

Non-fishing Activities
The staff can help arrange a local SCUBA or snorkeling trip for non-fishing guests. The waterfront patios on each cottage are the perfect place to relax and read that book you’ve been dying to crack the cover on. You will have daily front row seats to some spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Not to mention, the solitude and serenity are simply magnificent!
